PHONEMIC CHART ANIMATED

BAAMBOOZLE GAME

LOTS AND LOTS OF RESOURCES

THE PHONEMIC CHART

The 'phonemic chart' is a set of symbols that represent all the sounds in spoken English.

Phonemic charts are useful for learning English pronunciation because the spelling of a word in English doesn’t always tell us how it is going to sound. If we write them using the symbols from the phonemic chart, then we can clearly show how a word sounds.

ONE MORE GAME: BINGO

Here you have minimal pairs. Draw a table in your notebook with 12 cells. Choose 12 words from this group and listen carefully to the WORDS. When you hear one of the words you have chosen, cross it out. The first person to complete all the words must say "bingo" and is the winner

minimal pair is two words that vary by only a single sound
